  3. Sample Findings

  4. Tableau Prep Because of the ease of Tableau Prep, we were able to consolidate the various data sets into one cohesive data set.

  5. Universal Next Steps

  6. Sample Finding #1 Southwest Indiana should be investigated for overutilization of the ED and total cost of care.

  7. Finding 1 Suggestions Next Step: more data to look into the percent of actual prenatal care given in the ED. Suggestions: Increase the count/percentage of OB Navigators in the affected area. Add a full-time OB Navigator position directly into the affected area’s Emergency Departments.

  8. Sample Finding #2 Southeast Indiana has the highest rates of substance abuse among pregnant women with Medicaid.

  9. Finding 2 Suggestions Next Step: Confirm trends in local patient data sources. Suggestions: Update the OB Navigator role to include a sub-specialty of substance use disorder, in order to increase the integration and success of OB Navigators in the Southeast Indiana area. Increase the amount of OB Navigators with a substance use disorder specialty to the affected area.

  10. Sample Finding #3 Marion County has the most dollars saved related to cost of care for Diabetic mothers (Medicaid).

  11. Finding 3 Suggestion Next Step: Look at the top preforming counties by ratio and confirm in external data sets. Suggestion: Take a deeper dive into the top performers and find their successes, with the intention of adopting/integrating those successes.

  12. Sample Finding #4 Survival rates are greatest for the first and second child, amongst mothers within the 18-45 age range. State Avg. # of live-births

  13. Finding 4 Suggestion Next Step: Confirm trends in local patient data sources and trend mortality causes. Suggestion: All mothers in their 3+ pregnancy are considered higher risk for infant mortality and be approached by an OB Navigator.
