  3. It all begins with you! • What is a professional? • Do you consider yourself a professional? • Do professional workers look different than non-professional workers? • How do you select professional people who work for you? (doctor, lawyer, etc.) • Do you look and act like a professional?

  4. Company Image • Does your office have a professional appearance? • How important is the location of your office to the projection of a professional image? • Do you have a professional company logo, letterhead and signs? • If your printed company material the best it can be?

  5. COMPANY IMAGE • Is the staff in the company trained to work with the public? • Does the firm have a professional and up to date web site? • Does everyone in the firm dress as a professional worker? • Has the firm invested in the right office equipment to serve the public in a professional way?

  6. Association Image • Does the association have a clear message they want to project to the public? • Is the association staff professionally trained? • Does the location of the association office present a professional image? • What are the qualifications to join the association?

  7. Does the association offer any professional designations to its members? Does the association publish and enforce a Code of Ethical behavior? What qualifications are needed to join the profession? Does the association make the public aware of the Code of Ethics? Association Image

Association Image • How much money does the association spend each year on public relations? • Does the association gather and distribute statistical facts about the profession? • Does the association sponsor any community activities? • Does the association sponsor any government affairs events?

Professional Image…Who are we? • Are Valuers and real estate brokers members of any other professional organization? • Do members of the Parliament and local government agencies know who we are? • Does the public understand the valuable servcies we provide? • Why doesn’t everyone use a professional Valuer or real estate broker?

  10. What can we do to enhance our image? Write a plan for the Association • Include a list of objectives • Create a budget, income & expenses • Outline the public relations plan • Create an implement the plan • Create a plan to measure success of plan after one year
