  1. Energy By: Alex Thompson, Jake Lovell, Jared Murrell

  2. Chemical Energy • Some chemical reacti0ns give off energy. Energy is stored in bonds between atoms when they join together they form molecules. This energy is stored as a form of potential energy called chemical energy. Chemical energy can be related as kinetic energy when molecules break apart! • *example* Batteries for example contain chemical energy that can be produced as energy.

  3. Chemical Energy Picture! • BATTERIES!!

  4. Mechanical Energy! • In items with electricity, the electrical energy is changed into thermal energy, electrometric energy, or mechanical energy. Mechanical energy is an object that has motion or position. • *example* When an acorn is hanging on a tree it has mechanical energy because of its position. The acorn will still have mechanical energy when it is falling from the tree because of its motion. • *example* Chemical energy is inside of a rocket and it changes into mechanical energy because of its movement!!

  5. Mechanical Energy pictures!! • ACORN SPACE SHUTTLE

  6. Heat Energy • Heat energy is the transfer of thermal energy from hot objects to cold objects. • For example: Say you have some hot chocolate, and your cup is cold, but when you pour in your hot chocolate your cup becomes hot. This is heat.
