  3. Mandate Decision 9/CP3: continue work on the synthesis and dissemination of information, technologies and know-how conducive to adapting to climate change; … accelerate the development of methodologies for adaptation

  4. Objectives of the work • enhance dissemination of methods and improve quality of info about them; • promote improving the quality of methodologies; • encourage and assist Parties in applying the best available methods

  5. Objectives of the workshop SBSTA13:to organise a workshop to explore • The experience in applying current impact and adaptation methodologies and emerging needs; • The current state of the art of methodologies as identified in the IPCC Third Assessment Report, and how these apply to the specific circumstances of developing countries; • Options for improving the quality and dissemination of information on impact and adaptation methodologies.

  6. UNFCCC Session I and Session II Focus • Major TAR findings re- I&V&A methods, and their relevance to emerging needs for the assessment How we proceed • Presentations: 15 min + 10 min questions • Roundtable presentations: 5 -7 min • Discussion: 30 - 45 min around questions for discussion and more (emergent) questions • Summary by moderators: 15 -20 min

UNFCCC Session III Focus • Options to improve methods/models. • Options to improve dissemination of information about methods How we proceed • Introductory presentations: 15 min + 10 min questions • Plenary discussion&questions: 30 - 45 min • Discussion in break-out groups: 2 h 30 min • Report from break-out groups to plenary:30 min • Summary by the moderators: 15 min
