Advancing Sustainable Multi-Modal Transport: Insights from the Irish Transport Research Network

The Irish Transport Research Network (ITRN) is dedicated to enhancing transport teaching and research, informing policy, and aiding both public and private sectors in developing sustainable multi-modal transport systems. By employing best engineering practices and technology solutions, ITRN fosters innovative approaches to transport issues. Membership is free, although academics may charge for research. The annual ITRN conference presents ongoing research, featuring diverse topics like walkability, cycling infrastructure, and electric vehicle planning.

The Irish Transport Research Network aims • promote transport teaching and research, • inform policy, • assist the public and private sectors to plan and develop sustainable multi-modal transport systems using best engineering design, practice and technology solutions. Membership of ITRN is free (but academics won’t necessarily carry out research for free....)

  3. ITRN annual conference ITNR holds an annual conference (5-6 September in 2013). Presentations on research in progress. 40 papers presented in 2013, including: Identifying high and low walkable neighbourhoods using multidisciplinary walkability criteria Lorraine Fitzsimons D'Arcy -DCU Determining the "Willingness to pay" of tourists, commuters and leisure users for different standards of cycling facilities Gerard Deenihan, Brian Caulfield -TCD What role the local authority planning system could have in the roll out of Electric Vehicle infrastructure David Dunne - DIT www.itrn.ie
