The Most Dangerous Habit: The Peril of Procrastination

Procrastination is often overlooked as a serious vice, yet it's perhaps the most dangerous habit a person can develop. By repeatedly saying "tomorrow," we hinder our ability to take action, fulfilling our responsibilities to God and to ourselves. This habit prevents us from engaging in meaningful activities, from sharing the Gospel to deepening our spiritual practices. The Bible warns us of the fleeting nature of time and the dangers of delaying our commitments, making it imperative that we seize the day instead of waiting for tomorrow.

  2. MAN’S MOST DANGEROUS HABIT • The Habit of Saying “TOMORROW” • Don’t realize the seriousness of it; we are all too guilty • Responsible for our failure to break all of the other sins and bad habits we should

MAN’S MOST DANGEROUS HABIT • The Habit of Saying “Tomorrow” keeps us from beginning many good things we would otherwise begin… • Duties and responsibilities to God • Sharing the gospel with others • Greater study, meditation, prayer • Worship--more heartfelt and sincere • Crucify the flesh; let the Spirit direct

MAN’S MOST DANGEROUS HABIT • The Habit of Saying “Tomorrow” keeps us from beginning many good things we would otherwise begin… • Like coming to Jesus; obeying the gospel... • -- Believing that He is God’s Son (Jn.8:24) • -- Repenting (turning from) of sins (Lk.13:3) • -- Confessing faith before men (Mt.10:32) • -- Being baptized into Christ (Mk.16:16)

MAN’S MOST DANGEROUS HABIT • The Habit of Saying “Tomorrow” • Tomorrow is the day that never comes… -- “I will do that on Saturday…” • -- “I will do that the 14th of the month…” • -- But, when we say, “I will get around to that tomorrow…there is always another tomorrow! • Prov. 27:1---”Boast not thyself of tomorrow, for how knowest thou what a day may bring?”

  6. MAN’S MOST DANGEROUS HABIT The Bible tells us there are three things that can rob us of tomorrow: [1] THE RETURN OF CHRIST -- 1 Thess. 4:13-5:6; 2 Thess. 1:7-8 -- Lk. 12:40…”In such a day as ye think not the Son of man cometh…” -- 2 Pet. 3:3-10…”the day of the Lord will come”

  7. MAN’S MOST DANGEROUS HABIT The Bible tells us there are three things that can rob us of tomorrow: [2] THE CERTAINTY OF OUR DEATH -- Jas. 4:13-16…”ye know not what shall be on the morrow…” -- Highways on which people die -- Heb. 9:27…”appointed unto men once to die…”

  8. MAN’S MOST DANGEROUS HABIT The Bible tells us there are three things that can rob us of tomorrow: [3] THE HARDENING OF THE HEART -- Heb. 3:7-8…”Harden not your hearts” -- Heb. 3:12-13…”hardened by the deceitfulness of sin” -- Your heart may be sensitive today… But what about “tomorrow”?
