Climate Change Adaptation in the ACJV Regional adaptation planning • Facilitate regional adaptation planning among states, NGOs, federal agencies in Atlantic Flyway • Facilitate regional assessments of vulnerable species and habitats • Incorporate regional CC planning into State Wildlife Action Plans

Climate Change Adaptation in the ACJV Improved climate impact models related to habitat and population response • Work with USGS and others to down-scale climate models to regional and local scales • Improved models of sea-level rise along the U.S. Atlantic Coast and model dynamicresponse and impacts on: • Tidal marshes • Beaches • Other coastal habitats

Climate Change Adaptation in the ACJV Landscape change analysis & decision support tools • Predict changes in habitats due to climate change and other factors at landscape scales • Assess impact on populations • Determine vulnerable species and habitats • Provide tools to guide conservation, management and mitigation decisions based on these predictions • Expand pilot project - Designing Sustainable Landscapes - and related projects throughout Atlantic Flyway

Climate Change Adaptation in the ACJV Detailed Planning and Implementation for vulnerable habitats and species • Translate regional planning to local scale to guide actions • Enhancements to reduce impacts to coastal habitats • Habitat protection to allow inland migration of coastal habitats. • Habitat protection that accommodates expected shifts and changes in inland habitats • Mountain-top spruce fir • Strategies for conserving ecological resilience

  7. Climate Change Adaptation in the ACJV Monitoring of species and habitats to track changes and guide management • Flyway-scale waterbird monitoring • Monitoring of phenological impacts • Tracking habitat changes • Tracking conserved and managed lands

Climate Change Adaptation in the ACJV Incorporate Mitigation into Habitat Conservation • Restore forest and wetland habitats that sequester carbon • Pocosin wetlands • Habitat protection and management strategies that maintain or increase carbon sequestration • Forest reserves • Increase length of forest rotations • Seek carbon sequestration funding
