International Baccalaureate • International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) • Non-profit • Started in 1968 in Geneva • Marie Therese Maurette (1948)- “Is there a way for teaching for peace?” • 3747 schools, 146 countries, over one million students (half are public schools) • Rigorous coursework based on internationally recognized best practices

  8. Becoming an IB World School Step 1 – Consideration Phase • Spring of 2010 and 2010-11 school year • Exploration of becoming an IB partnership • Teachers visited IB schools • Staff attended IB training workshops

Becoming an IB World School Step 2 – Application for Candidacy • 2011-2012 School Year • Ongoing staff and teacher training • Administrators and IB coordinators were trained to lead schools in IB efforts • Application for candidacy was written and filed in April 2012 • Designation as an IB Candidate School Partnership
