  2. Getting Started • Choose one of the images for your painting • Draw the image on Watercolour paper. • Tape the painting to a board and paint using one of the premixed glaze colours or with Matte Medium

  3. Materials • Brushes • Palette • Acrylic Paints thinned with water and polymer medium • Cold water and paper towel

  4. Make sure to use medium with the paint. Extends the colour creates a luminescent effect

  5. Beginning layers:Use a mid size brush to cover the white of the paper Paint the light and the dark values

  6. The first few layers of colour will not look like you are getting too far. It may not look good at this point. Don’t despair! Painting is complete after many layers are applied

  7. Finishing the painting • Check to see that there is a main area of interest • Check for contrast between the lights and darks • Look at the edges: are they treated appropriately? • Some shape should appear clearly defined, other areas will have a lost edge. • Each brushstroke must be intentional and support the rest of the painting
