  2. Adversary(noun) • Definition: An opponent or enemy • Synonym: antagonist • Antonym: Ally • My Adversary was trying to kill me. He has been my rival for years.

  3. Aplomb(noun) • Definition: Self-confident in a difficult situation • Synonym: balance • Antonym: Gaucheness • I was aplomb, as I shot the winning shot in the basketball game.

  4. Apprehensive(adjective) • Definition: anxious or fearful; uneasy • Synonym: afraid • Antonym: calm • I was apprehensive to enter the dilapidated house. After a few minutes I got rid of my fear.

  5. Fragrance(noun) • Definition: a sweet or pleasant odor; a scent • Synonym: aroma • Antonym: stench • A pleasant fragrance emanated from the person right in front of me. It smelled amazing.

  6. Furtive(adjective) • Definition: sneaky; acting in a way so as not to be noticed • Synonym: Cautious • Antonym: open • I was furtively, grabbing a cookie; as for I didn’t want to be spotted.

  7. Grueling(adjective) • Definition: physically or mentally exhausting; very hard to do • Synonym: brutal • Antonym: easy • I was grueling over the calculus problem, as it was to hard to do.

  12. Cryptic(adjective) • Secret; mysterious • Synonym: arcane • Antonym: clear • The letter’s where cryptic, as if it were a secret language.

  13. Lugubrious(adjective) • Definition: Exaggeratedly mournful • Synonym: bleak • Antonym: cheerful • I was lugubrious as as I had to go somewhere on an amazing day, I was very sad.

  14. Maelstrom(noun) • Definition: a powerful whirlpool; turmoil • Synonym: vortex • Antonym: calm-sea • The Maelstrom was powerful, as for it was sucking me into it’s powerful whirlpool.

  15. Mausoleum(noun) • Definition: A large; elaborate tomb • Synonym: tomb • Antonym: none • The large mausoleum, was built for the kings of Egypt, to bury them in it.
