Hofmann Alignment Adjustment Features Training

This guide provides step-by-step instructions for technicians performing toe alignment on vehicles. It emphasizes the importance of not locking the steering wheel while centering it. The procedure includes starting the engine, making slight left and right turns, and bouncing the front suspension to relieve stress before adjusting toe. Technicians will learn how to adjust both left and right toe measurements and ensure that the steering wheel is straight. Following these steps reduces the likelihood of a crooked steering wheel during driving.

  1. Hofmann Alignment Adjustment Features Training EZ Toe

  2. Note, DO NOT LOCK THE STEERING WHEEL

  3. When centering the steering wheel • On some vehicles it is best to start the engine • Turn slightly left ( aprox. 2degrees ) • Turn slightly right ( aprox. 2degrees ) • Turn back to the left slowly and stop when the steering wheel is centered. • Do not move the steering wheel when exiting the vehicle.

  4. Right Wheel Flashing

  5. Steer to Adjust Position ? On some vehicles the adjustments can not be easily reached with the wheels in the straight ahead Position. On these vehicles the system allows the Technician to steer the wheel to a position where the adjustment is more accessible

  6. Adjust Right Toe

  7. Lightly bounce front suspension from center to relieve stress induced by adjustment

  8. Left Wheel Flashing

  9. Adjust Left Wheel

  10. Lightly bounce front suspension from center to relieve stress induced by adjustment

  11. After making all adjustments, steer the left front wheel to the right aprox. 2 degrees and then back to the left until the left and right front toe numbers are equal. Check the position of the steering wheel and fine tune if necessary.

  12. When the toe numbers are equal and the steering wheel is straight….. The chance of having a crooked steering wheel while driving has been reduced. No Technician gets a perfectly straight steering wheel the first time every time.
