JALGAON DISTRICT BACKGROUND • Jalgaon is northern district of Maharashtra State, in western Maharashtra region situated adjacent to Madhya Pradesh state Geographically in the Satpuda hill range and on eastern side of Vidharbha region. District has so many historical and tourist places like Padmalaya; Tarsod; Muktainagar; Manudevi, Unapdev; Paal as a Hill station; Irrigation dams, Waghur Dam ; Sardar Wallabhbhai Patel, Mehrun lake. • The district is surrounded by district Dhule, Buldhana district of Maharashtra State and Khandava district of M.P. State. Between 20° and 21° North latitudes and 74° 55' to 76° 28' East longitudes, in the northern part of the stateThe northern region of the district is hilly area mostly occupied by Satpuda mountain hills. Many regions of the district are placed at a height of 350 to 500 meters above sea level, but some of the regions are at a height even more than 700 meters. • Jalgaon district covers an area of 11,765 sq km  (Jalgaon City: 68.78 Sq.km). The district has 1560 villages, 15 Blocks. There are 12 municipalities & one municipal corporation in the Jalgaon district. Mumbai-Nagpur National Highway No 6 extends from southern-eastern goes through Jalgaon district. The main district head quarter Jalgaon that is historical place and situated on this highway, which act as gateway to south India.
