MAPP (Mobilizing for Action through Planning and Partnerships) is a community-wide strategic planning tool designed to enhance public health. It empowers communities to identify and prioritize health issues, mobilize resources, and take effective action. Utilizing broad-based partnerships and strategic approaches, MAPP fosters measurable improvements in health outcomes and the quality of life. Launched in 2001, MAPP promotes community-driven processes, encourages strategic thinking, and strengthens local public health systems, creating advocates and leaders for public health initiatives that anticipate and manage change effectively.

The National Vision for MAPP The values of mobilizing broad-based community partnerships, taking strategic action, and performance improvement are institutionalized through the use of MAPP in local public health systems across the U.S. resulting in: • measurable improvement in the community’s health and quality of life; • increased visibility of public health within the community; • community advocates for public health and the local public health system. • ability to effectively anticipate and manage change; and • stronger public health infrastructure, partnerships and leadership.
MAPP’s Origins • MAPP advances the thinking behind APEXPH. • The MAPPTool was launched in 2001.
