The objective of WP4 is to establish a comprehensive evaluation framework for assessing funding models from the perspective of Resource Data Management (RDM). This framework will encompass both national and international case studies. Key parameters include conducting interviews and workshops, followed by compiling a detailed report analyzing the developed model. Essential to this process is understanding various funding schemes and creating metrics for evaluation. The framework will address aspects such as legal and organizational support, user engagement, and technical infrastructure to ensure effective intervention actions.

WP4 – Evaluation FrameworkSummary Peter Stefan WP4 leader SIM4RDM face-to-face meeting
WP4 Objective • Strongly coupled with WP2 and WP3. • To create a framework that helps evaluating funding models from RDM point of view. • Both national and international cases are covered.
WP4 Parameters • Tasks: • 4.1: interviews with SB & FA people, workshops; • 4.2: writing report on the model worked out (use cases, synthesized material); • Deliverable(s): • the report; • Schedule: • PM7-PM12; • April-September 2012 (vacation?);
Critical issue • To create intervention actions, evaluation procedures first the different funding schemes have to be understood. • How a call is typically created? • Hungary: • lobby; • strong follow up of Brussels directives; • financial return and sustainability.
Initial proposal on metrics, and evaluation criteria • Measure on legal framework: • data protection, the support level of e-Infrastructures, RDM in law; • Measure on organizational framework: • funding bodies, promoting organizations (incubating companies, NRENs); • Measure on user demand/interest/awareness: • clear communication about the initiative, communication channels, user responsiveness, user enthusiasm; • Measure on level of technical support: • RDM supported by infrastructure and tools, data storage, data protection, data access
WP4 Actions • to define the interfaces towards other WPs (Peter); • to make regular WP4 discussions as part of the regular meeting, or identify a separate regular technical meeting (Peter) • to work out/brainstorm the evaluation criteria (Peter + members); Whose work can I count on here? • to iterate with WP3 (Peter); • (later) write the report and pass over to WP5 (Peter);
