Governor Janet Napolitano leads state role to support Town of Superior’s economic development needs, through the AZ Dept of Commerce • One significant area of need – affordable high speed internet infrastructure and access • State’s Government Information Technology Agency (GITA) and other agencies soon began collaborative effort

  3. Committees and partnerships were formed locally and proved the community’s commitment: • Superior Town Administration • Superior School District • Superior Town Council • Boyce Thompson Arboretum • Local businesses • Local residents

  4. Committees and partnerships included financial and/or technical support, leadership and expertise from several agencies : • US Dept of Agriculture (USDA) • Az Dept of Commerce (ADOC) • Governor’s Information Technology Agency (GITA) • Pinal County Government • Central Arizona College Small Business Development Center • Arizona Small Business Association (ASBA) • Central Arizona Association of Governments (CAAG)

Committees and partnerships included financial and/or technical support and expertise from several organizations : • Ubiquity Telecommunications – Hank Gutierrez Project Manager • Wi-Vod Corporation – selected State Contract vendor • Bank of the West - low interest loans • Az Telecommunications & Information Council (ATIC) • Resolution Copper • Salt River Project (SRP) • APS • Qwest

Expected Outcomes and Benefits: • Fully functioning affordable high speed broadband wireless services throughout Superior and including Boyce Thompson Arboretum • Multiple levels of service to residents, businesses, schools, government offices and First Responder agencies • Seamless “mesh” wireless network - interconnectivity, interoperability and roaming to other community networks • Wi-Vod Communications ISP and Operations Center Monitoring and Support • Coordinated Community Education and Awareness • Wi-Vod “Storefront” Presence in the Town of Superior

  7. Achieving Affordable High Speed Internet Access depends on on-going collaboration, leadership and knowledge • Key contributions and support from various sources such as grants, matching funds, in-kind and providers/vendors • Key stakeholders and partners continue to see it through to the end • Support from local businesses and residents of the Town of Superior is the key to sustainability
