Multiple Intelligences

Multiple Intelligences. Everyone possesses them. If things come easily to you, you are most likely using one of the intelligences that is well developed. If you have difficulty mastering something, chances are you are wrestling with one of your less developed intelligences. Look at Chapter Six.

  2. Everyone possesses them • If things come easily to you, you are most likely using one of the intelligences that is well developed. • If you have difficulty mastering something, chances are you are wrestling with one of your less developed intelligences.

  3. Look at Chapter Six • On pages 178 - 179, there is a multiple intelligences survey. • There are no right or wrong answers. • The results will help you identify your strengths and weaknesses. • Beginning on page 181, you will find tips on how you can create a stronger study strategy using your identified strengths.

  4. A new way of looking at yourself • Eight intelligences • Visual/spatial • Verbal/linguistic • Musical/rhythm • Logic/math • Body/kinesthetic • Interpersonal • Intrapersonal • Naturalistic

  5. Visual or spatial intelligence • Picture smart • You think in pictures. • You know where things are in the house. • You love to create images and work with graphics, charts, pictures and maps.

  6. Verbal or linguistic intelligence • Word smart • You communicate well through language. • You like to write. • You are a good speller. • You are great at telling stories. • You love to read books.

  7. Musical or rhythm intelligence • Music smart • You love to sing, hum and whistle. • You comprehend music. • You respond to music immediately. • You perform music.

  8. Logic or math intelligence • Number smart • You easily conceptualize and reason. • You use logic. • You have good problem-solving skills. • You enjoy math and science.

  9. Body or kinesthetic intelligence • Body smart • You learn through body sensation. • You move around a lot. • You enjoy working with your hands. • You are graced with athletic ability.

  10. Interpersonal intelligence • People smart • You love to communicate with other people. • You possess great leadership skills. • You have lots of friends. • You are involved in extracurricular activities.

  11. Intrapersonal intelligence • Self-smart • You have a deep awareness of your own feelings. • You are reflective and require time to be alone. • You do not get involved with group activities.

  12. Naturalistic intelligence • Environment smart • You have an interest in the environment and nature. • You easily recognize plants, animals, rocks, and cloud formations. • You may like hiking, camping, and fishing.

  13. Turn to page 181 • Find your top three intelligences and discover what you can do to be a stronger student. • Write down the suggestions that appeal to you the most.
