  1. Rerun of the Offline Noah Land Model for 1948-2006 Yun Fan and Huug van den Dool • Error in the vegetation class table corrected. • Several changes/improvements in the model. • Improvement in input precipitation datasets, homogeneous input for both retrospective and real-time analysis. • Retropsective analysis done for 1948 - 1998.

  2. NLDAS Re-run

  5. Summary NLDAS offline run with bug fix in vegetation map:1. Simulated soil moisture anomalies and annual cycles are Improved in top two model layers (0-10cm, 10-40cm), but phases of the dry end of annual cycles are about 1~2 month late. 2. Simulated soil moisture anomalies in 3rd and 4th layers (40-100cm & 100-200cm) are comparable with old run, but the amplitudes of annual cycles are much larger than Obs (also old run).3. Slightly changes in evaporation and runoff are found in northwestern and northeastern US. About 10~20 mm/mon increase in evaporation and similar amount decrease in runoff are seen in southeastern US.
