  4. At the End of Paper Make sure you have: • Bibliography page – complete list of all sources used in paper. • Works Cited page – list of sources referenced to in paper.

  5. Plagiarism • As the internet continues to increase in size, plagiarism becomes more and more of an issue.

  6. An Example of Plagiarism “Plagiarism means "to use and pass off (the ideas or writings of another) as one's own; to appropriate for use as one's own passages or ideas from (another); or to put forth as original to oneself the ideas or words of another" Dictionary.com.”

  8. The first slide was a perfect example of plagiarizing because the website was not sited. • The second slide was a perfect example of not plagiarizing because it clearly stated where my information has come from.

  9. Citation • Citation is critical to a research paper. • Includes several different forms, including MLA, APA, and Chicago style. • It helps organize your information and show others where you got it from.

  10. When you cite • Keep in mind the reliability of the source. • Gather necessary information for each type of source (will vary). • When writing your paper, put reference next to the cited statement. • List citations at the end of the report.

  11. Includes • Citation varies by the type of source that is used. • Always includes: author information, title of work, name and location of company of publication, publication date, and page numbers.

  12. How to cite using MLA • Varies by source. • Example: Book: Huxley, Aldous. Brave New World. New York: Harper & Row, 1932.

  13. Need help citing? • Many ways to learn to cite. • There are also citation handbooks. • Technology is a helpful tool. Internet provides websites with citation machines or examples.

  15. What Makes a Good Presentation? • Do not put all of your information into a power point. • Show images that helps get points across but they cannot distract from what you’re saying. • Don’t “fluff” your presentation with unneeded information.

  16. How to Present Information • Keep in mind the type of audience you will be addressing. • Always speak confidently and know the material. • You should never read off the power point, they can read, you need to give more than basics.
