  1. World Vision Lebanon FY11 Annual Report on Child Well Being June 2012

  2. Main Steps for the Process 1 – Identify indicators measuring contribution to CWBTs 2 – Identify data sources 3 – Develop the review tool/data matrix 4 – Populate the data matrix against framework 5 – Analysis of findings (Synthesis) 6 – Summary of the findings by strategic objective 7 – Search for complementary data 8 – Identify key points for report learning and recommendations 9 – Finalize the report with visuals

  3. 1 – Identify indicators measuring contribution to CWBTs • Finalize CWB targets to which your strategy will make a contribution • Select standard and additional indicators for the CWBTs from global list of indicators • Conduct NO Strategy and CWB Targets Mapping • Ensure alignment with MYBP tool specifically strategy implementation plan

  4. 2 – Identify the Data Sources • Identify relevant reports that will be used to report on contribution to CWBTs (Baselines, Evaluation, Management reports, other relevant documents) • Use a Planning Tool to identify which report contributes to which CWBT • Compile a list of relevant baseline, monitoring and evaluation reports

  5. 3 – Develop the review tool/data matrix • The review tool/data matrix was developed based on the mapping conducted against programmes and the planning tool (refer to WVL sample)

  6. 4 – Populate the data matrix against framework • Review all identified documents and reports and fill out the data matrix accordingly

  7. 5 – Analysis of findings (Synthesis) • Add a column at the end of the matrix and conduct a preliminary synthesis of each indicator. • Baseline values serve as a validation to the fact that we need to be where we are especially when compared to national data • Evaluation findings (should) show our contribution to CWBTs • In cases where different sampling methodologies and tools were used for the same indicator in the different programmes, a short narrative having a logical synthesis suffices • In cases where indicator measurement was consistent, a visual or graph showing values across ADPs is advised

  8. 6 – Summary of the findings by strategic objective • This is where we developed the template for our report (should not be a step in the future)

  9. 6 – Summary of the findings by strategic objective • One to two pages per Strategic Objective – Keep it simple and to the point • This should be a synthesis of all the indicators contributing to this strategic objective • Sector specialists are essential and necessary at this stage • Use graphs and visuals to make it appealing

  10. 7 – Search for complementary data • Collect and consolidate information from semi annual & annual management reports (ITTs) for the section: “Major WVL contribution” • Try to relate this output level information from reports with outcome level baseline and evaluation information in analysis section • Consult sector specialists and department heads as well as other relevant reports (management reports and reflection & learning documents) for lessons learned and actionable recommendations

  11. Additional Information • What happened this year outside and inside of World Vision (enablers and barriers) – Graphic form, not more than 2 pages • Mapping of the most Vulnerable and how programmes are contributing or not (why or why not) – Refer to WVL Vulnerability Mapping process • Examples of best practices from programmes • Most significant change story

  12. 8 - Identify key points for report learning and recommendations • It is critical that the national strategy and MYBP are aligned and contribute to CWBTs • There should be an intentional effort for all designs and redesigns to do so. • Relevant CWB indicators used to measure strategy and contribution to CWBTs should be included as appropriate in all designs and redesigns. Your strategy programmatic KPIs should be your national compendium of indicators. • Standardized use of sampling methodologies and tools to measure those indicators • Urgent need to establish a CWB Monitoring and Evaluation database that captures, tracks and stores all data generated from all M&E processes

  13. 8 - Identify key points for report learning and recommendations • CWBT measurement is an exercise that consumes a significant amount of time. Proper planning and allocation of DME staff is therefore essential. • Need to strengthen role of sector specialists in program design, monitoring, evaluation and reporting. This will strengthen standardization of program interventions for the respective sectors as aligned to NO Strategy, as well as improvement in the quality of documentation as relates to the sectors.

  14. 9 – Finalize the Report with Visuals • Short – maximum 15 pages • Remember who is your audience – use simple language with minimum DME and technical jargon • Use visuals and graphs to highlight specific results or achievements
