  2. What exactly are whole numbers and natural numbers? • A natural number is a positive number on the right side of the number line. They are also called counting numbers. But if you add 0 to the number line it’s a whole number. Ex of natural number- 1,2,3,4,5,6..... • Ex. Of whole number- 0,1,2,3,4,5,6…….

  3. What are integers? • Integers are whole numbers and their opposites. You might want to think of them as positive and negative. • Ex. ….…-3,-2,-1,0,1,2,3…….

  4. Do you know what rational numbers are? A rational number is a number that can be expressed as a fraction or ratio. When the fraction is divided out it becomes a terminating or repeating decimal. Ex. 1/5=0.2

  5. What’s an irrational number An irrational number is a decimal number that doesn’t repeat or terminate. Ex. pi Which number is an element in the set of irrational numbers? 14.78, -2.13, 13.07,PI

  6. What are real numbers? • Real numbers are the combination of all rational and irrational numbers. Real numbers can be represented by points on a number line. • Ex. -6/1

  7. Questions on classifying numbers • Which number is an irrational number? • A.0.4555… • B.-6 ¾ • C. 3.145763… • D.- 5 1/5

  8. Which set of numbers only consist of irrational and integers? • A. (13/2, -18, 4, 3.14) • B. (2 ,3.14, 2/3, 0.5) • C. (3.14, 0, -3/5, ) • D. (-5, 3.14, 9,0)
