INTRODUCTION • The outcome of the education enterprise is based on a multiplicity of factors • Performancein the NSC examination is one of the most critical indicators of system improvement (c) Standards maintained through: - high knowledge, high skills curriculum - high quality question papers - rigorous examination administration processes. - high quality marking - standardisation of the examination results . 4

INTRODUCTION… • Part of the drive to improve the quality of education, is the raising of the standard of the NSC examination. • Examinations and assessment influencesclassroom practice and exerts a pull potential on standards of teaching and learning. • The introduction of CAPS in 2014, was the start of this initiative and a gradual phasing in over the next years is anticipated. 5
