Entering Functions into Y = • If a function is defined everywhere, “experiment” with a window until the best view is seen • Example: y = x3 – 49x
If a function is not defined everywhere • Can calculate an appropriate window • Example: y = √( 8 – 2x2)
Piecewise Functions -1 x < -1 f(x) = x -1 ≤ x ≤ 1 1 1 ≤ x f(x) = 1 – x2 x ≤ 0 x2 -1 0 < x
Finding Roots • Graph and then use 2nd Calc to find zeros • Example: Find roots of y = x2 - 3
Finding Intersections • Graph then use 2nd Calc, Intersect Example: Find intersection of the following two line f(x) = x2 f(x) = 2x + 3
