The LORD • The LORD God made the earth and the heavens (Genesis 2:4) • The LORD said to Abram, "I will make you into a great nation and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.“ (Genesis 12:1-3) • On Mount Sinai the LORD said to Moses "I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. "You shall have no other gods before me. (Exodus 20:2-3) • The LORD says “You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will bring you back to the place from which I carried you into exile.“ (Jeremiah 29:13-14) • The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom (Psalm 111:10) The LORD is with you; Nothing is impossible with God; Let it be

  3. Fear the Lord • The angel said to Abraham “Now I know that you fear God, because you have not withheld from me your son, your only son." (Genesis 22:12) • The midwives, however, feared God and did not do what the king of Egypt had told them to do; they let the boys live. (Exodus 1:17) • And when the Israelites saw the great power the LORD displayed against the Egyptians, the people feared the LORD and put their trust in him and in Moses his servant. (Exodus 14:31) The LORD is with you; Nothing is impossible with God; Let it be

  4. 26In the sixth month, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, 27to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin's name was Mary. • 28The angel went to her and said, "Greetings, you who are highly favoured! The Lord is with you." • 29Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be. • 30But the angel said to her, "Do not be afraid, Mary, you have found favour with God. 31You will be with child and give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus. 32He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, 33and he will reign over the house of Jacob for ever; his kingdom will never end." • 34"How will this be," Mary asked the angel, "since I am a virgin?" • 35The angel answered, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. So the holy one to be born will be called the Son of God. 36Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be barren is in her sixth month. 37For nothing is impossible with God." • 38"I am the Lord's servant," Mary answered. Loving Kindness – Mercy - Chesed • "You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. • You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, but showing LOVE to a thousand [generations] of those who love me and keep my commandments.   8. 46And Mary said: "My soul glorifies the LORD, 47and my spirit rejoices in God my Saviour,48for he has been mindful of the humble state of his servant. • From now on all generations will call me blessed,49for the Mighty One has done great things for me– holy is his name. • 50His mercy extends to those who fear him, from generation to generation. • 51He has performed mighty deeds with his arm; he has scattered those who are proud in their inmost thoughts. • 52He has brought down rulers from their thrones but has lifted up the humble. • 53He has filled the hungry with good thingsbut has sent the rich away empty. • 54He has helped his servant Israel, remembering to be merciful 55to Abraham and his descendants for ever, even as he said to our fathers."
