  3. Advantages of AP • AP courses can help you acquire the skills and habits you'll need to be successful in college. • You'll improve your writing skills, sharpen your problem-solving abilities, and develop time management skills, discipline, and study habits. • College Board

  4. Advantages of AP • Taking AP courses will help you stand out in the college admissions process • Colleges want to see rigorous courses on your transcript • GPA is NOT the only item colleges are looking at

  5. Advantages of AP • Most four-year colleges in the United States give students creditbased on their AP Exam scores. By entering college with AP credits, you'll have the time to move into upper level coursesor pursue a double major • Save thousands of DOLLARS • College Board

  8. Advantages of AP • Foley High School Graduating Seniors 2007-2012 12% AP students • Average scholarship money awarded to AP students:  $2,338,972 per graduating class • 70.8% of all scholarship money awarded • On average, 49% of students receiving any scholarship monies are AP students

Student Testimonies • .  Former AP students are confident that the rigor of AP has helped them prepare for college. • Sam McDuffie, former Foley AP students, states, “ The AP courses at Foley High are set up just like college courses, so AP was definitely helpful. Without AP in high school, I know that I would be struggling right now, but I am excelling at Auburn.”

Student Testimonies • Seth Tibbs, former AP student, adds, “ I hear many of my classmates at the University of Alabama complain about English and Western Civilization classes, but I am doing fine because my AP courses at Foley High taught me how to study”. • Teddie Taylor, former AP student, also sees the value of the AP rigor. She states, “"Not only were AP classes crucial in preparing me for college by providing me with challenging material, they were also the highlight of my day”.

Student Testimonies • Jonathan Klein- 2007 FHS graduate • Graduated the Air Force Academy in 2011 with a B.S. in economics. • Currently a nuclear weapons officer for the Air Force • “I feel like the AP program at Foley really prepared me for the challenges and obstacles I have faced in life so far. They forced me to think critically and to dedicate myself to become a better student. In fact, I always felt like I was ahead of the curve at the Air Force Academy with my math and English courses”
