  2. Conflict Resolution The Chinese symbol for conflict combines two Chinese characters. One character denotes danger and the other opportunity. Conflict contains both of these elements. Too often the focus of conflict is on danger and people fail to see the opportunities hidden within the conflict. But if conflict is effectively managed, it can provide some positive productive opportunities.

  3. Conflict Resolution Since conflict naturally emerges in nearly all group situations, learning how to manage and resolve conflict is an important skill. When was the last time you found yourself in a conflict at work? How did it get resolved? These two need to resolve their conflicts!

  4. Conflict Resolution Conflict naturally emerges in nearly all group situations. Since resolving conflict is such an important skill, we are going to look at five conflict styles. You need to figure out your style of handling conflict and consider other approaches that you may want to use. The ability to deal with conflict is one of the most important skills you will need in your personal as well as professional life.

  9. REMEMBER • Employers want people with good interpersonal skills. That includes the ability to handle and resolve conflict. • Make sure you are able to recount a conflict you resolved that showed your maturity and ability to stay calm when faced with a difficult situation!
