Bridge Events. Cooking Classes. Purpose. To meet people and make new friends with the hope of introducing them to Jesus, you may wish to offer to the community vegetarian cooking classes and health lectures. It is best when they are done on a consistent once-a-month or every-other-month basis.

  1. Bridge Events Cooking Classes

  2. Purpose To meet people and make new friends with the hope of introducing them to Jesus, you may wish to offer to the community vegetarian cooking classes and health lectures. It is best when they are done on a consistent once-a-month or every-other-month basis.

  3. Advertising the Cooking Classes • Notices on community bulletin boards • Announcements on local Christian radio stations • Announcements on local television stations

  4. Advertising (cont) • Flyers placed on bulletin boards in local grocery stores and Laundromats • Invitations delivered door-to-door personally • Invitations mailed to former members

  5. Advertising (cont) • Invitations handed out to visitors • Invitations given to Bible study interests • Invitations to participants of former events

  6. Cooking Class Program • Welcome • Short Devotional and Prayer/Blessing • Buffet Line • Menu should portray a complete meal • Make recipes for each dish available, no matter how simple • Be sure to include fresh vegetables as part of the menu

Cooking Class Program (cont) • Everyone Eats • Circulate and Visit with Guests • Cooking Demonstration (see handout for information on meals and recipes) • Use recipes that are easy to make with ingredients easily found locally • Present some recipes that are non-dairy • Include lunchbox favorites and healthy snacks, as well as meatless dishes

Cooking Class Program (cont) • Drawing for Bread • After recipes have been demonstrated have drawing for homemade bread, usually 6-8 loaves • Guest Speaker • Each month can be a different topic; heart, diabetes, weight loss, etc. • When Adventist lecturers are not available, use appropriate DVD

  9. Cooking Class Program (cont) • Evaluation (see handouot) • An evaluation may be passed out to everyone. Guests are asked to fill it out and leave it on the table • Closing Prayer • Mingle • Visit with the people, thanking them for coming #
