Punt Team P – Punter (Safety Left) 2 – Tailback, H-Back (Safety Right) 3 – Fullback (Stay in lane and squeeze ball) Z – Flanker, Slot-Back (Stay in lane and squeeze ball) X – Split End (Go to the ball) Y – Tight End (Go to the ball) C – Center (Stay in lane and squeeze ball) RG – Right Guard (Stay in lane and squeeze ball) LG – Left Guard (Stay in lane and squeeze ball) RT – Right Tackle (Stay in lane and squeeze ball) LT – Left Tackle (Stay in lane and squeeze ball) Example: Ball kicked to the left side of the field. Punter try to kick the ball to the left or right side.

  3. Punt Return Right Once the ball has been kicked you have the following responsibility: RNT – Take 2 steps back and then go block the RG. LNT – Take 2 steps back and then go block the RT. LT – Take 2-3 steps back and then go block the Y. LB – Take 2-3 steps back and then go block the Z. RT - Take 2-3 steps back and then go block the LG. DE - Take 2-3 steps back and then go block the LT. RC - Take 2-3 steps back and then go block the X. MLB – Go block the 3 back. LC – Sprint toward where the ball is kicked and block 2 back DE – Secure the football and follow your blockers to the end-zone. S – Sprint toward where the ball is kicked and block the first opposing player you see. Example: Ball kicked to the left side of the field.

  5. Punt Return Left Once the ball has been kicked you have the following responsibility: RNT – Take 2 steps back and then go block the LT. LNT – Take 2 steps back and then go block the LG. LT – Take 2-3 steps back and then go block the RG. LB – Take 2-3 steps back and then go block the RT. RT - Take 2-3 steps back and then go block the X. DE - Take 2-3 steps back and then go block the 3. RC - Sprint toward where the ball is kicked and block 2 back MLB – Go block the Z. LC – Take 2-3 steps back and then go block the Y. S – Secure the football and follow your blockers to the end-zone. DE –Sprint toward where the ball is kicked and block the first opposing player you see. Example: Ball kicked to the right side of the field.

  7. Kickoff Team L5 & R5 – Sprint straight to the ball. L4 & R4 – Sprint downfield in your lane and contain return. L3 & R3 – Sprint downfield in your lane and squeeze to the ball. L2 & R2 – Sprint downfield in your lane an squeeze to the ball. L1 & R1 – Sprint downfield in your lane an squeeze to the ball. K – Safety 10-15 yards behind the play.

  9. Kickoff Return TeamReturn Right F1 – Block the L2. F2 – Block the L1. F3 – Block the L3. F4 – Block the R1. F5 – Block the R2 M1 - Block the L5. M2 - Block the L4. M3 - Block the R3 M4 – Block the R4. RR – Secure the ball and follow your blockers to the end-zone. LR – Block the R5. Example: Ball kicked to the left side of the field. Note: If the ball is kicked to the LR we can still return right. The LR and RR change responsibilities and everyone else blocks the same. Return men must communicate. “I got it”.
