  6. Testimony Rough Draft • Hi, I’m Scott Edward Townsend. I would like to take the time to tell you how Jesus Christ changed my life. I grew up in a Christian home, the youngest of four. The beginnings of my faith didn’t really start till I was about 13 years old. I don’t have a specific time nor day that I became a follower of Jesus. Sometime in between 7th grade and my freshman year of High School I began to follow Jesus. My dad has always been a huge influence in my life. He is an extremely knowledgeable man is his relationship to Christ was always something that I envied. He always taught a message of Jesus not me. His teachings sent me through depression around 7th grade about my identity and the value of life. I did not think that I was valuable. I always thought that I was stupid. School was very difficult for me, both academically and socially. Sometime during my depression my thoughts had turned suicidal due to my lack of intelligence and in one of my darkest moments I remember telling God that if He was real then “make me not stupid anymore.” This was my challenge to God, and for some reason God answered my prayer. Quite suddenly it was like a fog was lifted from my mind and things began becoming clearer over the course of the summer. I new where this new clarity came from. It was from God. During that summer God built up a confidence in my new found study of His word. My confidence was found in Him, and He continued to nurture and grow me in my relationship to him through Christ through out my high school career. By my senior year I new that God was calling me to be in His ministry. To serve the people he loved. It was the summer of my senior year that God gave me my wife Alicia, and she has been nothing but a blessing to me in my life. I will not say that life has always been easy or that my faith has always been unyielding and strong, but I can tell you that I have encountered Jesus Christ and have formed a relationship with Him. Now He affects everything that I do.
