  4. History of Red Ribbon Week Many of you know what Red Ribbon Week is. BUT, do you know WHY we celebrate it every year? To honor the life and legacy of Enrique “Kiki” Camerena, a Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Agent who was kidnapped, tortured, and murdered in Mexico in 1985. Agent Camerena believed that one person could make a difference.

  5. What can you do to make a difference? Agent Camerena made a difference in the lives of many people by preventing drug trafficking into the United States. Even though you are not DEA Agents, you can still make a difference in the lives of those around you, and you can help make our school a better place. Think of one action YOU can take this year to make a difference in our school.

  6. Make a Difference…Start a Chain Reaction • You will each be given a red “chain link” that will be added to the middle school Red Ribbon Week chain. • On your link, please write one specific action you will take this year to make a difference in our school. • Can’t think of anything? How about these suggestions: • Find someone who needs a smile, and give them that smile  • Make it a habit to respect everyone • Talk to someone you think might be in distress…you may make the difference of a lifetime. • Be kind to others • Pay it forward…you just might start a chain reaction
