  2. THE ISSUE: Unstandardized Permitting Solar permitting and interconnection can add $0.24 – $0.50/W per installation • Permitting is a major impediment to the widespread adoption of solar • 18,000+ AHJs • Requirements unclear to installer & AHJs • Numerous errors, change orders, and rework

THE ISSUE: Nationwide survey* of the 273 installers shows… 14.3 Hours Average personnel-hour consumed by solar permitting per installation $664 Average cost in personnel-hour per installation 36% Percent of installers who avoid jurisdictions because of permitting 23% Percent of installations where permitting cost exceeded expectations 13% Percent of installations saw agency requirements changed during the job. 1 out of 9 Number of installations that saw no agency requirements had been set. *Full survey results will be posted on www.solarpermit.org

  4. THE SOLUTION: The National Solar Permitting Database • Clean Power Finance is building a free, open-source database to streamline solar permitting and inspection processes throughout the nation.
