Get Token Register & CompleteProfile Apply to Programs Enter application materials Select Program& Assign Docs Certify Common Application Form (CAF) • Mid June • Get Token From Scott in email • A unique alpha-numeric code allowing access July 1 • Begin completing CAF • Designate letter of rec writers • Enter Personal Statement • Request the release of USMLE transcripts • September 1 • Done once • Once certified NO CHANGES • Once certified you can begin applying to programs • Can still designate new letter writers and enter other application components
Apply to Programs Enter application materials Select Program& Assign Docs You will eventually fall into this process cycle once you have certified your CAF and begun applying to programs. You can select programs, assign docs and apply to selected programs anytime. You do not need to apply to every program you select You can even designate new letters of recommendation and/or enter personal statements anytime
Your Responsibilities • Request Token to register with ERAS • Request letters of recommendation and medical school transcripts be sent to me • Complete Profile in ERAS and keep up-to-date • Complete ERAS CAF • Release USMLE Transcripts in ERAS • Designate letter of recommendation writers in ERAS • Enter personal statement into ERAS • Select programs • Assign supporting documents to programs • Apply to programs • Receive messages from programs
Deans Office will • Give out Tokens • Scan in your Letters of Recommendation • Scan in your Medical School Transcript • Upload your MSPE • Upload your photo • Provide Support
Profile • Completed at registration • General information • UPDATABLE throughout app process • AAMC ID number is received AFTER submitting initial registration to ERAS • Use AAMC ID and password you create to log in from then on
CAF (Common Application Form) • Can be started, saved and finished in separate log-ins • Same one sent to each program you apply to • Must “certify” prior to final submission (9/1) • CANNOT BE CHANGED AFTER CERTIFICATION • Can be printed in C.V. format
Personal Statement • Does not have to be finished prior to submitting CAF, though it’s recommended • Multiple PS’s can be written, assigned to different programs (tricky)
LORsLetters of Recommendation • Use “ERAS Cover Sheet” for efficiency • Have all letters sent to S. Davenport • Start acquiring writers now! • Goal date is 9/15 or 10/1 for receipt • You designate writers and assign to selected program • CAN APPLY TO PROGRAMS BEFORE LETTERS ARE IN ERAS
LORs (Letters of Recommendation) • Designate your writer list in ERAS • Multiple specialties/same writer • Four (4) max to a program • Can continuously designate and assign letters • Even after you have applied
Medical School Transcripts • Must be received “official” on WHITE PAPER • Will scan Med School only • Duluth transcripts are included • Wait until you have all your desired grades in before ordering (9/15, 10/1) • Check One Stop for grades: http://onestop.umn.edu/Student/index.html • Need signature & SPECIAL FORM for official copies on white paper • Auto go to each program apply to (not assign)
USMLE Transcripts • Ordered through ERAS for $ • USMLE transmits directly to unlimited # of programs • Shows test history as well as scores • Most UP-TO-DATE transcript sent to program when you initially apply to it • Choose whether or not to automatically send Step Two • 24 – 48 hour turnaround
MSPE (Medical Student Performance Evaluation) • MSPE process begins with interview • Evaluation comments will be added from June through October • Be proactive with Evaluations • Desired but missing evals are student’s responsibility to locate • Student Reviews begin in October • Transmitted to programs November 1 • Auto go to each program apply to (not assign)
Message Center • Check frequently • Programs will use it to contact you to set-up interviews • Gets forwarded to designated email in your Profile, but can be in message center a day or two prior to this
ADTSApplicant Document Tracking System • Opens in September • Document tracking system • Allows you to view what documents have been uploaded and when programs have downloaded them • Only works for those documents that you have assigned to programs you have applied to
How different for SF Match? • AUA (Urology) Match uses ERAS • SF Match does not use ERAS • Have own specific methods • You collect and mail into SF Match • Can use same letters of rec • Get 2 copies, one for SF, one for ERAS • www.sfmatch.org
Where to begin • Token - • A unique alpha-numeric code allowing access to “MyERAS” web-based service • Look for E-mailed announcements • Tokens received by e-mail MID JUNE • Communications/FAQs • Questions by e-mail • Prepare yourself before ERAS opens!
