  1. Example 1 The massive black train rolled by slowly. The smoke stack released plumes of smoke which eagerly rose and dissipated. The trees bare and the ground matted by snow, winter time. The greatest time of the year. The sound of the train harsh against the silence. The large, black passenger train, number 7470, clashed with the white snow.

  2. Example 2 The black passenger train labeled “7470” chugged along the Conway Scenic Railroad. I stood in silence as I watched the magnificent train roll by. Black smoke filled the air and eventually my nostrils. I heard the coal powered engine start chugging slowly as the train started to move. I could picture my hands being blistered from gripping the brake so tightly. Small water particles landed on my face from the snow being blown around. I opened my mouth for a split second and these particles landed right on my tongue; it had a bitter taste, like old water.

  3. Example 3 It’s a cold December day in Conway after a fresh snowfall. Clouds and fog loom at the tops of the mountains in the distance. As a locomotive stands still on the tracks, grey smoke billows from a line of passenger cars following it down the tracks and through the forest that lies just to the right side of the train. Its light shining bright and showing the way. Sounds of the bell filling the air. The landscape covered in a blanket of snow at least a foot deep. Trees barren of leaves mixed with the green of evergreens.

  4. Example 4 It was a dark December day, I stood in my tracks as I saw the train stopped on the railroad tracks. The weather was overcast and it was cold. The thing that caught my eye the most was the single head light pointed at me. I looked around and saw dark blue mountains, bear trees, smoke from the train blew towards me, snow mobile tracks, deep snow drifts, and a sign that had a W on it. I didn’t know what it meant through. I could tell the train had sat there for a while because of the snow that was on the back of it. I could tell the train wasn’t moving because the wind was blowing the smoke towards me.
