  2. Transport and mechanical engineering faculty The faculty consists of 7 departments and contains of 8 scientific centers. At the moment there are more than 2200 students studying on 12 specialties, which are served by 200professors and 58technical staff. Departments of the faculty • Machine Building; • Mechanical Engineering and Mechatronics; • Department of Transportation; • Department of Roads; • Department of  of Engineering Graphics and Machine Sciences; • Department of timber processing; • Department of Logistics;

  3. General information Changes happened in engineering education is driven by emergence of a connected, competitive, and entrepreneurial global economy. The major trends in engineering education: • First halve of the Twentieth century – the professional engineer. • Second halve of the Twentieth century – Scientific engineer. • The twenty-first century – The entrepreneurial engineer.

  4. General information Who is contemporary engineer? • Knows everything – can find information about anything quickly and knows how to use the information. The entrepreneurial engineer has to has ability to transform information into knowledge. • Can do anything – be able to quickly access, learn, and use the tools needed to accomplish a goal. • Collaborates– has the communication and team skills, and understanding of global and current issues necessary to work effectively with anybody, anywhere. • Innovates– has the imagination, the entrepreneurial spirit and managerial skills to identify needs, come up with new solutions and take it into the world

Engineering service center of transport and machine building faculty Production of ecologically clean bio fuel The palletised briquettes of bio-fuel The dryer and high pressure device for production of bio-fuel briquettes. The technological line for production of bio-fuel as briquettes from different reminders of timber and agro-food industries has been created at the centre. At the moment the centre works on elaboration of high efficiency pyrolyses stove.

Engineering service center of transport and machine building faculty Pyrolyses steam-boiler for heating of premises and green houses Bio or solid fuel • Power of the boiler is 140 kwt; • Efficiency - not less than 80%; • Consumption- not more then 13-14 kg per hour. Education-scientific center of wood material production and processing The investigations performed at the center are connected with production of wood material producing and processing facilities, instruments, machine-tools and high quality experimental furniture and creation of pilot samples. The center also works on development and production of wood materials processing instruments prepared of hard-alloyed metal and steel covered with titanium nitride.

  11. Scientific-engineering-education center of heat engineering A new scheme of piston-cylinder group with minimum friction losses is developed. A number of high factor thermal machines are created on the basis of this scheme. Liquid oxygen compact pump High pressure natural gas pump

Scientific center of diamonds and composite materials Actual scientific-research works: The major scientific activity of the center is development of new innovation technologies for diamond synthesis by the spontaneous crystallization method in the high pressure and high temperature conditions.

Scientific center of diamonds and composite materials Development of efficient technologies for producing diamond composite materials and other super-hard materials utilized for drilling, grinding and polishing as metal as well non-metal materials usable in civil engineering, mechanical engineering and other fields of industry.

Engineering service center of transport and machine building faculty The device for handicap people displacement on steps of stairs (project) The given device is differ from well-known systems with original design of rail runners which have the flexible structure ,that allows to enlarge areas of contact of machine tracks in order to enhance stability of such equipments.

  16. Engineering service center of transport and machine building faculty The portable drilling machine (project) Schematic view of plasma torch • . The main feature of this device is the original scheme of drilling head that contain as mechanical bore as well plasma torch. The proposed device is intended to use for thermo-mechanical drilling of solid mountain rocks. By means of a special technique after heating of hard rock by plasma arc there arises cooling water curtain. Momentary cooling of rocks stipulates their cracking and destruction, which noticeably enhance drilling process. Plasma torch construction provides electrode displacement in vertical direction and reliable actuation of arc at electrode contact with nozzle.
