Innovation in Design ID Credit 1 Innovation in Design Intent To provide design teams and projects the opportunity to be awarded points for exceptional performance above the requirements set by the Rating System and/or innovative performance in Green Building categories not specifically addressed by the Rating System.

  3. Innovation in Design LEED recognizes two strategies for earning ID credits: Exemplary Performance Innovative Performance Credit can be achieved through any combination of the paths below: PATH 1. Innovation in Design (1-5 points for NC and CS, 1-4 points for Schools) PATH 2. Exemplary Performance (1-3 points)

Innovation in Design Innovation Strategies not Addressed by Existing LEED Credits Basic Criteria for Achieving: Demonstrate quantitative performance improvements Process or specification must be comprehensive Formula developed must be applicable to other projects Strategies that demonstrate a comprehensive approach and have significant, measurable environmental benefits are applicable.

  8. Innovation in Design Innovation Strategies not Addressed by Existing LEED Credits. ID Credits awarded to one project does not automatically constitute approval for a similar strategy in a future project. ID Credits are not awarded for the use of a particular product or design strategy if the technology aids in the achievement of an existing LEED credit. Project team must sufficiently document the achievement using the LEED credit equivalence process.

  10. Innovation in Design ID Credit 2 LEED Accredited Professional Projects can earn 1 point for having one LEED AP participant on the project team.

  11. Innovation in Design LEED AP At least one principal participant of the project team shall be a LEED Accredited Professional. 1 point for having one LEED AP on the project. No additional points for having more than one LEED AP on the project.

  12. Innovation in Design LEED AP Assign responsibility for overseeing the integrated design & construction process. Provide project team members green building & construction education early in the project.

  14. Innovation in Design ID Credit 3 The School as a Teaching Tool Intent To integrate the sustainable features of a school facility with the school’s educational mission.

Innovation in Design ID Credit 3 The School as a Teaching Tool Requirements Design a curriculum based on the high-performance features of the building, and commit to implementing the curriculum within 10 months of LEED certification. The curriculum should not just describe the features themselves, but explore the relationship between human ecology, natural ecology and the building. Curriculum must meet local or state curriculum standards, be approved by school administrators and provide 10 or more hours of classroom instruction per year, per full-time student.

  17. Regional Priority

  18. Regional Priority Intent The intent of the regional priority credits and points is to encourage teams to attempt LEED credits that address specific environmental priorities in the project’s region.

  19. Regional Priority Regional Priority credits are listed by state and zip code. Regional priority credits are only available to projects within the United States. (No longer true) Even though 6 regional priority credits are listed, teams can only earn up to 4 points in this category.

  20. Regional Priority Step 1: Select a Rating System Type. You can choose from Building Specific Rating Systems, or Neighborhood Specific Rating Systems. Since they have varying implications on Regional Priority Credits, you must specify the path you wish to take. Step 2: Select a geographic location. You can choose to search within a zip code or search near a known address.
