  2. Outline • In the last 4 months. • Distance Learning: see the big picture. • English Technical Writting Course. • Indonesia Distance Learning Network.

The last few months • Indonesia’s Ku-Band ground station killed & connection lost for almost one (1) month. • We are thinking to buy a spare Ku-Band equipment - but we need to know if we can stay in Ku-Band or move to C-band. • ITB is hosting major mailing lists approx. 150 mailing lists is hosted on 2 Pentium in Tandom FreeBSD.

English Technical Writting • Test bed for distance learning. • Contact Prof. Paul Beam (pdbeam@watarts.uwaterloo.ca). • It’s currently free for trainers & those who wish to apply distance learning. • Please submit a proposal to Prof. Beam. • A workshop will be held on the 24-25 November at ITB.

  7. Indonesia Distance Learning Network • Initiated by Indonesian Open University. • An International Conference on Distance Education in Bali. • 17-21 November 1997 in Bali (Patra Jasa Hotel, Kuta). • We (ITB) have 3 papers to be presented in the conference.

  8. High School Video Conference • 25 October 1997: 14:00 Indonesia Time. • Three Cities: Bandung-Surabaya-Malang • CU-SeeMe & Its Reflector. • Aiming for high school network in Indonesia.

  9. Higher Engineering Edu - Net • Japan - ASEAN (JICA Supported). • Graduate Program in Engineering. • Indonesia JICA Contact: • hedspmu@indo.net.id • hee-net@itb.ac.id • More Info: • http://www.lp.itb.ac.id/~yc1dav/ • AI3/ITB involves in the steering committee. • Next meeting: March 1998 in Thailand.

  10. Satellite Performance • We (ITB) are interested to play with the NEC IDU & monitoring the Eb/No. • Remember Izu’s Measurement on ITB’s Power • We found ITB’s / Bandung themperature & humidity follows the exact same pattern.

  11. FYI .... C1 has Ku-Band 72MHz UNUSED!

  13. Wireless Data Network • Based on Motorola DataTAC (HDLC). • Sensor & GPS connected to WDN. • Study how to put the server on Internet & collect the data from DataTAC Network.

  17. Proposed Objectives • Collect / Link all AI3 activities. • AI3 advertisement / public relation.

  18. Several Issues .. • Webmaster? • Distributed / Centrallized Servers? • Access to www.ai3.net? • Information Coordination?
