Introduction • First time that Switzerland has participated in the Masterclasses • however, we had previous experience with our own local “Masterclasses”, developed independently • Participating Institutes: • Only : ETH Zurich, Institute for Particle Physics • Main organizers : Ch. Grab, GD • Contacted also : • Bern : too busy with other stuff this year, but interested for next year • Geneva : no response EPPOG, London, April 2006

  3. Advertisements, Registration • Contacted schools/teachers in the larger Zurich area (up to Bern, all German-speaking) • Got replies/requests from • 54 students • Because of space limitations accepted • 28 students (17 boys, 11 girls) • From 8 schools EPPOG, London, April 2006

  4. Our agenda • Started at 9am • Welcome by Ch. Grab • Introduction to SM by M. Rissi (PhD student) • Introduction to Accel. & Det. by N. Berger (PhD student) • Used your advice to let PhD students speak… • Visit to our Institute and the TANDEM accelerator before lunch • Lunch together • After 2pm: • Introduction to scanning by Ch.
