  3. Definition of Dyslexia • A learning disorder that makes it hard for people to read, spell, and in some rare cases learn mathematics.

  4. Tom Cruise • Diagnosed at age 7 • Tried to hide disability • Called himself a “Functional Illiterate” • Very little memory of what he was reading • Felt anxious, nervous, bored, frustrated, and dumb

  5. Tom Continued…. • Never really given a solution • Later Hired tutors and specialists • Doing fine today • Started Hollywood Education and Literacy Project (H.E.L.P.)
