  2. The “Pats” • the 'pats' have played in the NFL (an elite football league in America) • there home stadium is called Gillette Stadium in Foxborough Massachusetts • the teams colours are blue, white and red

  3. History • the new England Patriots joined the NFL in the merger of 1970 • they made the play-offs four times before appearing in there first super bowl in 1986, and lost to the Chicago bears • then in 1997 they made the super bowl again but lost to the green bay packers

  4. Tom Brady • in the year 2000 Robert Kraft ( the owner) hired head coach bill Belichick as head coach • then in the late rounds of the 200 NFL entry draft Belichick decided to pick quarterback Tom Brady • it was the best pick he's ever made

  5. 2001 • In 2001 the patriots had a great season and quarterback Tom Brady really started to get comfortable with the team • they made the play-offs and beat three teams to go to the super bowl • in the super bowl the patriots defeated the rams 20-17 to win it

  6. 2003-2005 • the patriots won the super bowl in 2003 and 2004 becoming only the second team to win three super bowls in four years • in 2003 bill Belichick won coach of the year • in 2005 the patriots got knocked out in the second round of the play-offs

  7. 2007 • 2007 was the year that everything was working for the patriots • undefeated in the regular season • in the play-offs in there first two games they killed both of there opponents and showed no sign of slowing down going into the super bowl

  8. 2007-Superbowl • this was one of the most epic games in NFL history • the score went back and forth, but the giants came out on top 17-14 • ending the patriots perfect season

  9. 2008-2010 • these three years were a struggle for the patriots • in 2008 tom Brady got injured and was out for the whole season • in 2009 and 2010 they lost in there first game in the play-offs both times

  10. Current Season • the patriots had a great year and made it to the play-offs for the eighth time in 11 years • they narrowly won there final game to make it to the super bowl • where they lost to the giants again in a thriller a few days ago, extending there Super Bowl drought to eight years
