  3. Idaho Power’s Aquatic Invasive Species Program • Program was launched in 2006 with our involvement with the 100th Meridian Initiative. Goal was to keep Zebra and Quagga Mussels east of the 100th Meridian.

  4. Idaho Power’s Aquatic Invasive Species Program • In 2007 asked to join the Idaho Invasive Species Council. • In 2008 the state of Idaho launched its Invasive Species Sticker Program. Goal is to self fund boat inspection stations in critical areas throughout the state to prevent the introduction of invasive (Dreissenid) mussels by trailered watercraft.

  5. Idaho Power Invasive Species Strategy Education, Prevention and Monitoring Contingency Planning

  6. Education • Internal –2010 site visit to Parker Dam in Havasu AZ to get a first hand look at the Dreissenid Mussel issues.

  7. Education • Internal -Idaho Power presentation rolled out to all power plant operators and staff on Dreissenid mussels. • Identification and history. • Biology and current distribution. • Photos of impacts to hydroelectric facilities, including photos of Parker Dam visit.

Future Upgrades & Improvements: • Closed loop cooling systems. • Coatings on trash racks. • Continue to track research on mussel control and monitoring. • Consider facility upgrades regarding boat decontamination. • Update our working draft. Continue monitoring all aquatic invasive species.
