  2. Wettability Test Objective • Aerogels will be used in a test to increase the wettability of food powder products such as Slim Fast in order to improve processing cost. • Current methods for increasing wettablility in Slim Fast include adding soy lecithin, corn starch and sugar gum.

  3. Procedure for Wettability Test • Floatation Cell + Mechanical Mixer: • Separated the non-wettable fraction from the wettable fraction of the Slim Fast powder in water. • Test Groups: • Control Test Run: NO Aerogel, Slim Fast Powder + Tap Water • Aerogel Test Run: Contained 1% weight Aerogel powder to Slim Fast powder + Tap Water

  4. Preliminary Results for Wettability Test • The Slim fast containing 1% Aerogel powder improved wettability 60% compared to Slim fast without Aerogel.
