Parent Engagement Parent engagement has a positive impact on student achievement and well-being. Students are supported and inspired to learn in a culture of high expectations in which parents: • are welcomed, respected and valued by the school community as partners in their children’s learning • and development; • have opportunities to be involved, and also a full range of choices about how to be involved in the education community to support student success; • are engaged through ongoing communication and dialogue with other partners in education to support a positive environment at home and at school; and • are supported with information and tools necessary to participate in school life.
Committees • Accommodations Review Committee (ARC) for Woodstock Schools: St. Rita’s & St. Francis proposed school closure. • ARAC for the addition of a new high school in London. • Personal Electronic Device (PED) committee • Special Education Advisory Committee (SEAC) • Friends & Advocates of Catholic Education (FACE) • English as a Second Language committee (ESL) • Safe Schools committee • Principal Pool selection committee; and • Communications committee
Input LDCSC-PIC members contributed input on the following areas: • School based Fund Raising and Fees Policy • French Immersion Program Review • Annual School Board Budget • SharePoint “Spirit Portal” • Personal Electronic Device Policy
Activities • Approved 34 Parent Involvement Base Funding projects ($500) for schools • Several School visits • Board meetings • Board package reviews and discussions
