Role of the Team Leader • Facilitate daily meetings/discussion of student progress • Share parental, guidance, special services or health concerns with team • Act as liaison between administration and staff • Coordinate academic activities within house • Plan and execute end-of-year activities

  3. The Nature of Eighth Grade • Teach students to be responsible for their own actions • Prepare foundation for a solid high school career • Enable students to advocate for themselves • Teach and expect good time management skills

  4. Eighth Grade Breakfast • Monday, November 15 • Celebrating end of first marking period • First of many camaraderie-building activities to promote class unity • Trivia Quiz • Normal school clothes • One period in length

  5. Clubs • Encouraged to join clubs and continue exploration into varied interests • Helps with time management skills • Prelude to vast menu of opportunities at CHS • List of clubs is available in front office hallway

  6. NJ ASK • Tues.- Fri., May 3-6, 2011 • Students will be prepared through existing curricula • Take seriously, eat breakfast, get sleep previous night, etc. • Importance of being in school ON TIME

  7. End of Year Activities • CHS Orientation/ Visit , April 20-21 • Class Picture, May13 • Freshman Class Elections, May11-13 • PAWS Transition/ CHS Student Reps • Drama Trip/Dinner Dance /Wed. June 8 • Swim Party/Barbecue/ June 17? • Awards Assembly- June 20 (1:05, invite only) • Eighth Grade Celebration/ Wed. June 22 • Sub Party/ Thurs. June 23

  8. Exams • Monday – Thursday, June 13-16 • Final, summative assessment of material in each academic subject • Schedule coordinated/ one or two a day • Weighted appropriately • Acclimates students to rigors of high school assessment
