  1. While building the scaffold around the HRSG stack located at Power 9 during the turnaround, Willie and other co-workers were using the catwalk to support the upper part of the scaffold. Willie asked the question if the catwalk was stable enough to support the weight of the scaffolding and no one on the crew could answer the question. Willie escalated to his Foreman (Marciano Garza) who then took the question on to Operations. Operations at this point contacted Civil Engineering to run calculations. It was determined that the cat-walk was not built to support the weight of the scaffolding!!! Without Willie asking the question and escalating his concern, we may have put people in harms-way. I would like to see Willie recognized for his efforts in applying the 4-Key Principals that Energy Systems use as our cornerstone to our safety. 2. Frank has done an outstanding job in painting in our block. There was a Safety Emphasis in the past two weeks that showed what a difference Aesthetics makes. It showed a picture of no painting on rails and then it showed a picture of railing with painting. When I came around the corner of our block the other day, I had that same reaction. What a difference a coat of paint makes!! Many thanks to Frank for all of his hard work. It is really paying off in how well our plant looks!!! 3. Alex noticed a person working without gloves and without the proper eye protection. He "coached" the person and got them the appropriate PPE. Left to Right: Edgar Lozano; Pat Linscombe; Polo Martinez; Alex Bazaldua; Darrell Schoppe
