  1. What are 5 Access Control Systems?

  2. Access Control Systems Access Control Systems can be best described exactly like how they sound; they offer the ability to grant access to specific individuals who are authorized to enter a building, office, home, etc. This allows for complete security and ensures protection to both people and assets. Within the access control spectrum, lies a wide variety of access control devices such as card readers, magnetic locks, door strikes, and RFID Systems.

  3. Types Of Access Control Systems Depending on your specific needs, you can choose an array of options. This will help you navigate through the various types of the access control systems offered on the market. Elevator Controls Barrier Gates Card Readers & Card Access Systems Telephone Entry Systems RFID Systems

  4. 1. Elevator Controls Installing elevator controls is typically used in luxury high rise buildings and multifamily dwellings. By providing restricted floor by floor access, only individuals with a proximity card or key fob will have access to specific floors. This helps preserve security and autonomy for each resident.

  5. 2. Barrier Gates Barrier gatesare the most common form of access control systems typically utilized in parking garages, parking lots and multifamily complexes.   This security feature is the first deterrent amongst many access control options because it is the first thing one sees when entering a property.   The barrier gates are then hooked up to another access device such as a card reader or telephone entry unit which will qualify the individual entering and either send the signal to the barrier gate to open or not.   We specialize in custom gate automation as well as parking and revenue control systems.

  6. 3. Card Readers & Card Access Systems Card readers and access cards are an alternative to the traditional key in and key out system.   The card reader stores information within the access system whenever someone uses their credential and not only tells the door to open, but it also allows for other security features as well.  For example, if you only want someone to have access to a location during a specific period of time, you can program that access card and card reader to allow this.   You can also see how many times that card was used during a specific time frame.  There are so many features that a card access system can do that it would be best to consult a qualified professional like Royce Integrated Solutions.

  7. 4. Telephone Entry Systems When it comes to multifamily complexes or apartment buildings, telephone entry systems are one of the most common forms of access control systems.   With a dedicated phone line going to the telephone entry system, visitors can call residents via a LCD display which will have the name and access code for each resident. When the code is initiated, the telephone entry system calls the resident and then the resident has the option of pressing a button which will then grant them access.

  8. 5. RFID Systems RFID or Radio Frequency Identification System are very similar to card access systems except it works off radio waves rather than the physical touch.   In these cases, the authorized person will be given a tag and the RFID reader picks up a radio frequency from the tag and sends the signal to the antenna; which in turn opens the barrier gate or automated gate.   This is a great alternative for properties that don’t like carrying physical access cards and instead choose to use credentials which get attached to their vehicles.
