  2. Intro to Afghanistan • This is the country of Afghanistan, its capital is Kabul. • Afghanistan’s population is 31,889,923 people. • The president of Afghanistan is Hamid Karzi • Afghanistan is 251,772 square miles which is slightly smaller than Texas.

  3. Afghanistan • The official language is Persian and Pashta. • People live in mud houses . • The currency is afghani. • It is in the center of Asia. • Parliament is the type of government.

  4. Afghanistan was founded or created in 1747 by Ahmad Shah Durrani • Through the ages, the region has been home to various people, among them the Aryan (Indonesian) tribes, such as the Kambojas, Bacterans, Persians, etc. Etc… History

  5. Tanboor • Looks like a guitar with two strings. • 1,500 B.C to Today is how long people have played this instrument. • Strum the strings to make a sound.

  6. Sarode • A very odd looking instrument looks kind of like a guitar • First played/made 150 years ago • Played by plucking the strings.

  7. Shahnai • An instrument that looks like a flute. • Was first made in India 200 years ago then became popular in Afghanistan • Played by blowing threw 1 of 2 reefs.

  8. Sitar • Looks like a guitar • First made 200 years ago • Played by strumming strings.
