Varanasi & Sarnath – 2 days • Info • Varanasi also known as Benaras • Religious site for Hindu’s, Buddhists, and jain’s • On the bank of the Ganges • Why are we going there? • Visit the deer park where the Buddha first taught the Dharma. • Visit Banaras Hindu University where Bante spent some time

  5. Sravasti – 2 days • Info • One of the largest cities in India during the Buddha’s lifetime • Why are we going there? • The Buddha spent much of his life in Sravasti at the Jeta Grove • Also includes Stupa of Angulimala and some of the Buddha’s chief disciples

  6. Lumbini – 1 day • Info • In Nepal • Is a world heritage site • Includes a monastic zone • Why are we going there? • The Buddha grew up in Kapilavastu , 10k from Lumbini • The Buddha was born in Lumbini • Is an Ashoka pillar here

Kusinara – 2 days • Info • The Maitreya Project plans to build a 500 ft/152m bronze statue of Maitreya Buddha near Kushinagar • Temples have been constructed here by Indian, Chinese, Sri Lankan, Thai, Burmese, South Korean, Tibetan and Japanese Buddhists • Why are we going there? • The place where the Buddha attained Parinirvana after his death • Visit the Parinirvana temple

  9. Rajgir – 2 days • Info • Travel via Nalanda the ancient Buddhist university • Includes one of only 80 Peace Pagados throughout the world • Why are we going there? • Home to Vultures Peak, one of the Buddha’s favourite meditation spots

  10. Bodhgaya – 4 days • Info • Travel via Pragbodhi, where the Buddha stayed before Enlightenment • Why are we going there? • Where the Buddha attained Enlightenment
