  1. The Malta Standards Authority Food Consumption Survey 2010 Report What do Maltese adults between 19 and 65 years eat? What are the typical Maltese food consumption patterns?

The Malta Standards Authority Food Consumption Survey 2010 Report • This is the first study of its kind in Malta in recent times. • Needs to be consolidated with further studies • To aid at various administrative levels and possibly give further direction to national policies and strategies with regard to the food actually consumed by the Maltese

  3. The Malta Standards Authority Food Consumption Survey 2010 Report • Possible ways forward to counter-act the possible negative effects of the types of food being commonly consumed; as well as the effect of the quantity and the time of consumption.

  4. The Malta Standards Authority Food Consumption Survey 2010 Report Pilot study was carried out between 12th December and 23rd December 2009. The full fieldwork was carried out between 18th January and 14th May 2010. 1045 participants (320 males and 725 females) participated in this study related to food consumption behaviour of Maltese adults aged between 19 and 65 years.

  8. The Malta Standards Authority Food Consumption Survey 2010 Report Average BMI tends to increase with age but stabilizes by the age of 50 years. The mean BMI (24.84 kg/m2) for the younger group aged less than 30 years is significantly lower than the mean BMI (28.28 kg/m2) for the older group aged at least 60 years.
