  2. Information, communication and technology(ICT) Definition of ICT ICT means a term used (by most businessmen and educational institutions worldwide) to describe new technologies.

ICT(Information communications and technology): What can and can’t do • WHAT ICT CAN DO • It motivates students and teachers. • It offers multimedia resources (text, images, audio, video) to be used in the class. • It gives opportunities for intensive one-to-one learning in a multimedia computer lab. • It offers access resources of authentic materials on the Internet.

  4. WHAT ICT CANNOT DO • It cannot guarantee that all materials you get from Internet are reliable and authentic. • It might not be able encourage students to read a lot of text, since most people find it frustrating to read from screen.

Use of ICT in language teaching, learning and evaluation • Teachers and students can use Web a resource to find information (online interactive quizzes, dictionaries, etc.) • Teachers and students can create teaching/learning materials using generic software applications (Word and PowerPoint). • Students can download audio and video recording that can help their learning from the Web.

  6. Teachers and students can create audio and video recording by using audio and video editing tools (windows movie maker, format factory, etc.) • Teachers and students can use social networking sites(Facebook, twitter, discussion forum) to discuss, share, and get feedback about their learning.

  7. Use of ICT in Language Evaluation • There are many software that can help teachers (Word, etc.) to check students’ grammar and spelling mistakes in writing. • Students who publish their work online can get feedback from other language learners, or even native speakers.

The advantages that ICT could bring to language learning courses are offered in ICT4LT • cooperation and collaboration with one’s peers. • the opportunity that ICT-based tools give to language teachers so that they can tutor their learners more effectively. • Target language communication in the sense that ICT technology could improve lack of possibility of alive communication. • E-mail between learners or between tutor and learner could be used for communication in a team work or for discussing a particular topic in advance of an assignment

Discussion lists suitable for large groups of student in order to argument the opinion. • Chat rooms that could be used for informal contacts with native speakers . • Online oral interaction is probably the most exciting way of using ICT technology in language learning. • Community building in the sense that online communication brings affective component, raising motivation and creating kind of community.
