  2. What is the Senior Literary Research Paper (SLRP)? • 5-7 page paper based on a connection between two books from a single author • worth 20% of term grade • discusses a theme/topic/issue common to both books

  3. Nitty gritty.... • includes author bio and book summaries • requires research from secondary sources • combines evidence from primary (your books) and secondary sources (research) • documents evidence following MLA style

  4. Choosing Your Books/Author • Ask friends, family, librarians, booksellers, and teachers for suggestions • look for books that match your interest • select an author you like or might like • read 5 pages, a chapter, or a summary BEFORE you choose your books!!

  5. Actively Reading • read over the summer • while reading the first book, take notes on any general themes • while reading the second book, record any connections made with the first book • keep track of page numbers • use post-its to mark important lines from the books

  6. REMEMBER: Choose Your Books Wisely!
