  5. LLP-LdV funding 2011 • Mobility - €2,003,400 • Partnerships - €333,900 • Preparatory Visits - €1,700 • Transfer of Innovation - €1,000,000 Total so far = €3,339,000 (+?)

  6. Preparatory Visits • Funding for institutions to visit a potential partner institution in another country • Participation in a partner finding contact seminar organised by the a National Agency • Grant of circa €1,000 per person to cover travel and subsistence

  7. Mobility • those in initial vocational training (IVTs)(FETAC Level 5 and Advanced Certificate FETAC Level 6) including apprentices (2 – 39 weeks) • people available in the labour market (PLMs), eg workers, people available for employment including graduates (2 – 26 weeks) • VET professionals (VETPRO) who manage, deliver or design training to exchange expertise and best practices with a view to improving the content and quality of training provision (1 – 6 weeks)

Partnerships • Small-scale cooperation activities between VET organisations enabling them to cooperate on themes of mutual interest. • Partnership projects are about co-operation and exchange of information at a European level. • Partnership funding is based on lumpsum amounts depending on the number of mobility activities (travel abroad) • Up to €24,000 per partner • Duration of 2 years

Transfer of Innovation Projects • To improve the quality and attractiveness of the European Vocational Education and Training system by transferring existing innovations to new environments through working with transnational partners • Content can be adapted from previous Leonardo da Vinci Projects, or from other innovative projects or results and transferred into public and/or private vocational training systems and organisations at national, local, regional, or sectoral level. • Funding - up to 75% of the total project budget; partners must provide at least 25% of the budget as co-funding. • Applicants can request up to €150,000 per year for the TOI project (all partners): therefore the maximum available for a two-year project is €300,000.

What is a Study Visit? • Visits are 3 - 5 days long • Three types – General Education, VET, Mixed (Lifelong Learning Approach) • Programme is organised for participants • Group consists of max. 15 participants with various professional backgrounds from different countries • 32 different topics to choose from, for example Lifelong guidance for learning and working, social partners contribution to lifelong learning, workplace learning

Aims and Objectives of the Study Visits Programme • The overall objective of the Study Visits Programme is to support policy development and co-operation at European level in lifelong learning, notably in the context of the EU 2020 strategy, as well as the Bologna and Copenhagen processes and their successors • Study Visits facilitate the exchange of information and experience between decision makers and education and training specialists in areas of common interest • Study Visits provide a forum for discussion, exchange and mutual learning • Improve understanding on specific aspects of the education and vocational educational systems in Europe • Continuing exchange of advice, ideas and information • Enrich flow of information towards policy makers

Themes of the Study Visits Programme • The study visits are organised around five categories of themes that fully reflect the priorities of the LLP 2011-13 and cover most of the important issues of policy and practice in education and training: • Encouraging cooperation between the worlds of education, training and work; • Supporting initial and continuous training of teachers, trainers and education and training institutions' managers; • Promoting the acquisition of key competences throughout the education and training system; • Promoting social inclusion and gender equality in education and training, including the integration of migrants; • Developing strategies for lifelong learning and mobility.

Key points: Grundtvig Learning Partnerships • The next deadline is in February 2012. • You will need at least 3 partners in 3 different participating countries to apply; (5-7 ideal!) • Projects last for 2 years; • Each partner will be responsible for their own funding; • Funding is a lump sum based on number of mobilities (people traveling) Small Partnerships – 4 mobilities – €10,000 Medium Partnership – 8 mobilities - €14,000 Large Partnerships-12 mobilities – €18,000 Larger Partnerships-24 mobilities – €22,000 • Prepare by dong a Preparatory Visit (DIY or Contact Seminar) dshannon@leargas.ie & mdiamond@leargas.ie

Key points – Grundtvig in-service training • The course must be a min of 5 days duration, max. 6 weeks • You must organise your own training activity • Courses can be found on the Comenius Grundtvig Training Database http://ec.europa.eu/education/trainingdatabase/ • Appropriate courses sourced elsewhere will also be considered • The grant contributes towards the cost of the course fee, travel and subsistence- approx €1,500/€2000 average grant.Next deadlines to apply to Léargas: • 29thApril for training activities starting on or after the 1st September 2011 • 16th Sept for training activities starting on or after the 1st January 2012 • Mid-January 2012 for training activities starting on or after 1st May 2012.
